Let's Be Famous (Topicocalypse Episode 61)

On this episode of Topicocalypse, Bryan Kane PhD has an important topic for us. In this world of social media and celebrity (which go hand in hand), why do people want to be famous? After all, it seems like an exhausting endeavor, and it's so random how it happens. Unless your family is already famous (like the Kardashians) you have to stand out on social media, whether Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc. How does it happen? That's what we want to know. And once it does happen, why do people want fame? There are so many people trying to be famous. Instagram models, foodies, hipsters, even normal people now are making business profiles in hopes of getting noticed through hashtags and callouts. What does this desire to be famous say about the ego? Is this the world we now live in? Does the desire for attention start in the home? Everybody wants that perfect social media picture. We talk about all of this and more, including some Creed puns on this episde of Topicocalypse.
