Musicians vs. Streaming Services (Topicocalypse Episode 17)

Hey hey hey podcasting fans and casual listeners. We have a brand new episode for your listening pleasure. Our good friend and co-host, Danial was curious about what artists aren't available on digital and streaming services like spotify, pandora, iTunes, etc. and uncovered some surprising facts thanks to Rolling Stone Magazine. As it turns out musicians like Taylor Swift, Tool, Garth Brooks, Pete Townshend, Jason Aldean, Thom Yorke (of Radiohead), Prince (RIP), Bob Seger, The Beatles and several others hold out on streaming services because they hardly make anything from them. So instead, they make albums exclusive to Target, Walmart, and self-owned digital services. This gets us into discussions about the Breakfast Club, Underworld Evolution Maynard James Keenan (of Tool, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer), iHeart Radio, Napster, piracy and other topics. Josh also impersonates Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit, and the guys argue about the difference between Vinyl and Digital. All of this plus a brief discussion of U2 and their unorthodox methods of getting people to listen to their newest music (like sneaking it into your iTunes library).

We are a very small podcast at the moment, and we would be very grateful if you could share our podcast with your friends and family. It would not only help us grow, but it was also help us know where we can improve. We love and appreciate everybody who has come along on this journey so far.

As always, you can find us on the Internet at humannequinmedia.com and on social media at Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You can download our back episodes on podbean, iTunes, Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Stitcher, and other great podcasting outlets. If you're on any Apple products, we would love it if you could rate and review us. We hope you enjoy the episode.
