The Art of Debate and Comedy (Topicocalypse Episode 20)

When does a joke become a dad joke? When it becomes "apparent." Get it? Speaking of bad jokes, we're talking about bad jokes on this episode of the Internet's only podcast. Once again, we're joined by Nicole Noonan for her second first podcast.

Bryan Kane PhD wanted to talk about politics, we didn't. But being inspired by our refusal, he decided that he wanted to talk about how an absence of negative social feedback can contribute to overconfidence. Instead of engaging in debate, are we smiling and avoiding awkward confrontation? And how does this feed into comedy in our day to day lives? We've now become a society that laughs at jokes that aren't funny. Why? Because a lack of negative social feedback is making people think they're funny when they're not. So, as usual, we decide to see just how far down this rabbit hole goes.

As usual, you can find us all over the Internet at the usual outlets: Podbean, iTunes, Apple Podcast, Google Play, Stitcher, YouTube, Podcasts.com and many others. If you have a few bucks to give, we have a Patreon page at pateron.com/topicocalypse. Do us a HUGE favor, like, share, and subscribe to our podcast. We hope you enjoy the episode.
